Helm of Salvation

This is your everlasting covering, the knowledge of your eternal salvation. For you are saved by grace, not works. We will never be "worthy" of our salvation, it is the gift of GOD. The first trick of our enemy, to get us to drop our shield of faith, is to question our salvation. He brings to mind our sins and the conviction they deserve, drawing us into guilt. If he can convince us that our sins have seperated us from GOD, then we doubt, we falter, our faith falls and we are open to attack. He can even convince us that we "deserve" the attack, that GOD is punishing us. We drop our guard and fall beneath the enemies blows. But the Word tells us: "all men have sinned and fall short of the glory of GOD" We will always be sinners, yet we are saints in Jesus. Paul called himself "chief of sinners" (1Tim 1:15) he also admitted "For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do." (Rom 7:19)

If the Apostle Paul, who wrote more of the New Testament Scripture than anyone, was prone to sin, then how much more are we children reliant on Grace? We live by grace, day by day. We will never rise above our sinful nature until we rise above the clouds with our Lord. So are the lies of the devil true? Not at all. Yes we sin, and yes we deserve condemnation but the Word tells us "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." (Rom 8:1) But does that sin seperate us from our GOD and leave us prey to the devil ? GOD forbid ! "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Rom 8:38-39)

The helm of our Salvation is sure protection from the lies of the devil, who would convict us. We do not stand in our own worth, but in that of our Lord Jesus (remember your breastplate). It is HIS righteousness we wear, not our own. The devils lies can not penetrate and plant his evil seeds in our thoughts. We don't need to be worthy, we are sanctified in Christ Jesus.

Can we then sin all we want, tapping the abundant grace of our Father ? (Rom 6:1-2) "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" We wear the righteous of our Lord and strive ever to take on His likeness. We are dead to sin, it has no place in us. If we falter, we are sorrowful, but we repent and go on. Leave no place for the devils lies. Accept GOD's Grace and, as Jesus said "Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more." (John 8:11 KJV)

Keep your eyes on Jesus and walk the walk. If you fall, get up, brush yourself off, and walk on. Never look back, the days of condemnation are behind you. They have been washed away in the Blood of the Lamb. Rejoice in your Salvation. When the enemy convicts you of sin, repent, praise GOD for HIS grace, and thank your Lord for your Helm of Salvation.
