So, You want to be a Warrior
All those who want to be Spiritual Warriors please stand up...
Now start walking....
Keep walking...............
A little further.....................
Okay, they're gone. We can talk now. Anyone who wants to be a warrior is not fit to serve. That may sound hard, but it is true. GOD calls HIS warriors. It is not something you chose to do. Any true warrior will tell you, it is not something you would choose. We are not warriors by desire, but by calling. The Holy Spirit lays the burden on your heart. No one wants to live their life going from one battle to the next. Everyone wants joy, and comfort.
We desire to walk with the Lord in the cool of the day, but we have been called to the fiery furnace instead. Yes, there is awesome power in the walk of a warrior, and, to those who are outside our ranks, our walk may seem romantic, and noble. Trust me it is not. We fight because the Lord has called us to battle. This is a war, full of pain, loneliness, and hardship. We are soldiers and we do what we must.
So now that we are past all the romanticism, lets get real. There is a war raging out there. Powers and principalities, and wickedness in high places. Men and women are being chewed up and spit out by the dragon. Many fancy themselves warriors, some are innocent victims. A true warrior will throw himself right into the dragons mouth to save his brother, or fall on that spiritual grenade and let it rip his insides out defending a babe. A warrior doesn't think about Being a warrior, they just ARE. They have a burden to defend GOD's children, and defend the Faith. They dive in because they see the dragon's claws coming down on some unsuspecting brother (who will probably never even realize what is happening). And often they suffer as much friendly fire as they do from the enemy.
This isn't a life to be chosen, it is a walk to be endured. If a warrior is doing his job, those who enjoy the comfort created through his vigilance will not even see the battle raging. They may even think him strange, all dressed in his armor and constantly looking behind every tree. They may even push him away for being a blot on their tranquility. But that is okay, the warrior is content in their safety. He needs no praise or esteem. If they were being effected by the rages of the battle, he would feel he had failed. So, we are the outcasts, the strange voices in the wilderness. Shining knights in need, a thorn in the side when the battle is done. But a warrior has no care of all this, he is on to the next battle.
If you are called as a warrior, stand firm in you calling, encouraged in the comfort of others. If you are not, stay out of the battle. It is hard enough to stand against the enemy without the voices of children drowning out the voice of our commander. Pray for the warriors, accept their rough nature and hard words. Comfort them when they are battered and bruised. But don't dive in and try to help, then a real warrior will just have to come in and save you. Remember "fools rush in where angels fear to tread" and GOD sends warriors to save the fools. Bless you all,
your servant,
