Greetings in the Lord Jesus Christ,

"Watchman what of the night?" Can we see the season around us? We see fall coming as the weather cools and the leaves change color. We know it is fall and that soon winter will come, as it always has. Even if we had no calendar, we would know that winter was approaching and begin to prepare. We see the days growing shorter, feel the nip in the morning air, smell the scent of someone burning leaves in the distance, hear the sound of squirrels hurrying through the trees readying their store of winter food. But what of Spiritual things, have we no discernment of the coming 'winter of the soul'?
Christ said that we could and should 'know the season' of His return. He gave us the signs and charged us to be watchful. He warned that the thief would come to steal and destroy, that we should be vigilant, and watch. The world will soon see a time of great darkness, a 'winter of the soul', and our lamps must be trimmed and ready lest we stumble.
i have written several messages on End Time Prophecy, {in the archive}, this week we shall look at current events and discern the 'season'. Many things are happening, some behind the scenes and little discussed, together they show a pattern of the coming winter.

Winter of the Soul

Look around, what do you see? Economies on the verge of collapse all around the world. Technology expanding at an unbelievable rate and our dependence on it also. Morality out of fashion and at an all time low. Violence increasing and at an all time high. New, more virulent viruses emerging day by day and antibiotics becoming less and less effective. Men literally dying from stress. Kids killing kids. Wars and threats of war. Nuclear weapons in the hands of more and more unstable governments. Famine spreading. Weather raging. Sunspots increasing. Y2K. Ozone depleting. Global warming. Look around, what do you see?

Even if you are not a Christian, there is cause for concern. This world is spinning out of control and on a downward spiral to collapse. World leaders, economists, scientists, sociologists, et.al. know this and are scrambling for solutions. But they see the myriad problems as either loosely or unrelated events, and the solutions as the same. As Christians, we know that there is a Spiritual force behind the physical events, and we know that the 'god of this world' is Satan.
Satan is awesome in his intellect. The Bible says he is more subtle than any other creature. It also makes it clear that he is behind the flow of events throughout history. From the rise and fall of the Roman Empire to the rise of Hitler and the Third Reich. The devil is subtlely guiding events to follow his master plan of world domination under the AntiChrist. We also know that GOD is ultimately in control and HE has given us the end from the beginning.
Current events, when put into Biblical perspective, give us the signs of the times, and allow us to discern the season. The Scriptures describe the end time as a morally degenerate and violent time. War, and rumors of war, will fill the minds of men, economies will collapse, famine will rage, sickness will increase. Men will die simply from the stress of living. Look around, what do you see?
Satan has a plan in all this. There is purpose in the madness, a hidden plan behind the apparently unrelated chaos. Bare with me as i give a little history.

• WWII: attempt to destroy the Jewish Race (the woman with twelve stars in Revelations) and create a western power through which to rule the world.

• United Nations/ Cold War: Creation of a world government while producing a massive military buildup.

• Space Race: an offshoot of the cold war, increasing technology allowing for better weaponry and surveillance and control mechanisms.

• Fall of the Soviet Union: creating a single world power with all the technology and weaponry produced through the cold war.

• Worldwide social/economic collapse to make way for a single world leader?

• Y2K Bug: intentional bug built into all the worlds technology to allow for a timed, worldwide, crisis ushering in the New World Order? (guess i was wrong on that one)

This list could be expanded to include myriad detail, right down to cattle producers saturating the beef we eat with low levels of antibiotics until they no longer fight infection, and why you are able to read this over the internet right now. i have kept it to the major world events as that is all that is needed to see the pattern. There are many people with conspiracy theories, but they have been unable to show a link between what seem to be unrelated events. That is because the link is not physical. It is not some secret government, some mysterious group of men. These my indeed exist, but the real power behind world events is the Prince of the Power of the Air. Satan, the father of lies, the god of this world.
Watchman! What of the night? The world around us is growing darker as the enemy gains more and more control. His plan is coming to it's completion. He will soon have total control of the world governments, economies, and social structures. Then he will once again turn his wrath on GOD's chosen. As he ascends his throne, the world will stand at peace, then comes destruction.

It is time to prepare. We must work while we can because the hour comes when we will no longer be able to work. Then we will only be able to stand and await our Lord's return. There is no time to sleep, no time to go searching for new oil for our lamps. Trim the lamps, set the table, arise, the Bridegroom comes! Prepare the way. Cry unto all the world, Repent, for the Kingdom of GOD is at hand!

The next twelve months will show whether our world will be able to survive the pangs of birth into the next millennium, or if this will prove to be Satans opportunity to gain total control of the human race. The battle has raged now for six-thousand years, since Satan made the first assault on Eve. Woe unto the earth fore Satan has come down and he knows he has but little time.
